 Corona Virus News

Important Up Date.

Following guidance from the Church of England and information provided by the Government  we intend to open St James Church in Burnopfield this Sunday, the 6th of December for a service of Holy Communion at 11am.

Having reassessed our Risk Assessments and set up etc during lockdown we have further decided that we are able to accommodate 18 individuals or households within such a service, and that to aid in keeping ourselves safe, there will be the slight change in that each of these 18 pew places will now have a bottle of hand sanitiser available within them for use before and after receiving communion.

Please note that what has not changed regarding attending a service in a “COVID-19 secure manner “is the need to

  • maintain social distancing and avoid mixing with others at all times
  • sanitise upon entry and exit to the Church building
  • bring and wear a mask/face covering that covers your face and nose throughout your time in the building
  • Provide your details for the reasons of Test and Trace

Most crucially it is still required that you phone to book a place to attend the service.

 Advent Angels.

The angel said, “I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people!” Luke 2:10b

Can you knit or sew, draw or paint, cut and stick?

If you can, why not make an angel? We hope that you will join us in putting angels in your window this Advent as a message of hope and love and to bless our communities.

A message of hope and love that the angel Gabriel gave to Mary all those years ago when he told her that Jesus was going to be born, and that she was going to be his mother!

We have also been asked to bring to your attention daily reflections produced by the Diocese of Durham for Advent. The the link below takes you to the relevant Youtube page

The Church will be open for individual private prayer and reflection.

On Wednesdays between 2.00 & 3.00 pm. All are welcome to come to pray within the Church – but please note

Due to social distancing a maximum of 10 people may be in Church for prayer and reflection at any one time.

  • You will need to bring and wear a mask or Face covering to attend and receive communion.

And please do follow all other guidance offered for your safety and wellbeing.
